Paul Robinson’s days at White Hart Lane appear to be numbered, despite Juande Ramos’ claim that he remains part of his plans.

The England international has been usurped between Spurs’ posts in favour of Radek Cerny, in a situation that has reportedly seen Robinson request a move.

Speculation of unrest has heightened the likelihood of Tottenham bringing in another keeper and it is 25-year-old Stekelenburg who has occupied the gossip columns.

With the Sweden international out of contract this summer, the Old Lady are free to discuss a deal with the former Racing Santander defender with a view to him joining in July.

It had been thought Juve may be considering making an offer to Villa in order to land him now.

However, it now appears as though he will move on a free transfer at the end of the season.

“Mellberg is close to signing a preliminary agreement with Juventus,” said the club’s sporting director Alessio Secco.

“If everything goes well, the player will become a Juve player in July. There are still minor things left to discuss before he signs the preliminary agreement.”

The former Auxerre ace had targeted 12 Premier League goals at the start of the campaign and was well on his way to achieving that following a treble against Reading in September.

However, prior to Pompey’s 3-1 success over Derby last weekend, Benjani had just one goal in his last ten league outings.

That changed when he bagged another hat-trick against The Rams, leaving him on 12 and now he wants another eight before the end of the season.

“At the start of the season I wanted 10 or 15,” said Benjani. “Now I have 12.

“I think there is enough time for me to get 20. To get 20 in the Premier League would be fantastic.”

Fulham currently sit second bottom of the table and are five points from safety and Healy recognises it has been a frustrating season.

The Northern Ireland striker scored 13 goals for his country as Nigel Worthington’s side went close to progressing from Group F in Euro 2008 qualifying.

And Healy, who has scored only once in Fulham’s last 12 matches, is now aiming to convert his international goalscoring manner to the domestic scene, ahead of the Cottagers’ FA Cup third round replay with Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

The Manchester United midfielder has delivered a stinging criticism of the Reds’ challenge after another disappointing campaign at Anfield.

Liverpool had been tipped to win their first league title since 1990 after a summer of heavy spending, but Monday night’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa leaves the Reds 14 points behind their Lancashire rivals United at the top of the table.

Anfield is currently under a cloud of uncertainty as a much publicised bust up between club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett and manager Rafa Benitez is combined with ongoing talk on Merseyside of a new takeover.

And Hargreaves has now produced a knock-out blow to Liverpool’s title tilt and feels the race for the top flight’s silverware is between United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The versatile 23-year-old is expected to feature in the second leg of the Gunners’ Carling Cup semi-final at Tottenham on Tuesday, live on Sky Sports 1.

He is likely to slot in alongside William Gallas following injuries to Philippe Senderos and Johan Djourou.

Wenger firmly believes Hoyte has a bright future ahead of him.

The summer arrival of French right-back Bacary Sagna, however, cast some doubts on whether the Academy graduate would remain with the Gunners.

It is understood Arsenal recently rejected a bid from Aston Villa for the England Under-21 international, who has attracted plenty of interest in the loan market.

The Toon idol was thought to be in the running to be named manager of Newcastle prior to the return of Kevin Keegan.

And Shearer is now being tipped to be handed a role in Keegan’s backroom staff as he begins in cut his managerial teeth.

However, Shearer has surprisingly admitted that he could consider a move into management away from Tyneside.

Shearer told The Sun: “Why would I say that Newcastle will be the only club for me?

The 31-year-old is out-of-contract in the summer but Spurs are keen to take the left-back during this January transfer window.

Hertha have now confirmed that they are in talks with Spurs about a possible deal.

“The door for Tottenham is now so wide open that you can talk about it,” said Hertha general manager Dieter Hoeness to Sport1.

“The transfer fee must be high enough so we have enough to commit to a substitute for Gilberto.

“The talks continue. It is and remains the decision of Hertha whether Gilberto moves or not.”

Spurs original bid was 1 million euros – but they are reported to have upped this to 1.6 million euros.

Hertha are already planning for life without Giberto and are reportedly looking at FK Novi Sad midfielder Gojko Kacar.

Dolores Aveiro revealed her passion for Los Merengues during an interview with AS at her home on the island of Madeira, describing the club as the best in the world.

In a statement, she claimed that she would not be able to rest until she had seen her son play in the all white of Madrid.

“They are my favourite team, the best in the world,” she said.

“If one day he were to leave England then I would really like to see him go to Madrid.

“I would not like to die without seeing my son playing there, then I could go knowing that my dream was fulfilled.”

Kevin Keegan replaced Sam Allardyce as Magpies manager last week and is now looking to strengthen his squad before the close of the transfer window.

A number of high-profile names have already been linked with moves to Newcastle and speculation has suggested that Beckham was one of those firmly in Keegan’s sights.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has been training with Arsenal in recent weeks during the Major League Soccer off-season.

He played under Keegan for England and it was reported that Newcastle were lining up a short-term deal for him.

However, Newcastle chairman Chris Mort has rubbished the story.

“There’s no truth Newcastle United are interested in signing David Beckham,” Mort said.

The Australian international midfielder is set to arrive in London on Wednesday to find out whether his application to move to England has been successful.

An 18-month deal between the Rams and Sterjovski’s Turkish club Genclerbirligi has already been agreed and only the paperwork is now preventing the move from going through.

The Serie A giants have revealed the Sweden international is close to penning a deal that will see him join them on a free transfer in the summer.

It had been thought O’Neill could axe Mellberg from his first-team should his long-term future lay elsewhere, however, the former Celtic tactician would not second-guess the defender’s commitment to the cause.

“Olof’s commitment has been excellent and, even if he decides to go in the summer or signs a pre-contract, I would have no qualms about continuing to play him,” said O’Neill.

Rangers rejected Fulham’s initial offer, but the Craven Cottage outfit have upped their bid to £3million which the Scottish club have reluctantly accepted.

Fulham turned their attention to Cousin after seeing a move for Watford’s Marlon King stall.

Cousin, who arrived at Ibrox in the summer from Lens, has previously intimated his desire to try his luck in England and Fulham are now ready to grant him his wish.

The 30-year-old is now set to travel to London for talks with Fulham and undergo a medical ahead of his proposed move to the Premier League.

A club statement from Rangers read: “Rangers have accepted an offer from Fulham to sell Daniel Cousin and the striker is now on his way to London to discuss personal terms.

“The Cottagers made a move last night for the 30-year-old Gabon international

    which was rejected by Rangers.

“Fulham then came back in again today with an improved offer and this was

    accepted by the club.”

The 25-year-old has struggled to ever really establish himself at St Andrews since joining Birmingham in the summer of 2006 from Colchester.

Danns has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park, with the eventual fee set to rise to £850,000 based on add-ons.

Rangers have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, although a firm bid has not yet been forthcoming for the England Under 21 international.

Gers boss Walter Smith has spoken to O’Neill about the youngster, but his interest has cooled somewhat after being quoted a price by the Villa boss.

“Rangers haven’t come in for Luke in terms of a bid, but Walter Smith asked me about him and that’s as far as it’s gone,” he told the Birmingham Mail.

“Is there a £3.5million price tag? Well, yes, obviously because Luke is a Premier League player and that’s what he would cost in this day and age. I spoke to Walter maybe about a week ago and he hasn’t been in touch with me since.”

Moore has just one Premier League goal from 15 league appearances this season.
