مشاركIt was claimed the Manchester United manager was responding to taunts by the home fans – but he insisted he was celebrating his side’s 2-0 win which kept the team at the top of the Barclays Premier League.
The Football Association said it will not be taking any action after studying video evidence and consulting the fourth official at the game.
Ferguson downplayed the incident, insisting he was ‘expressing his relief’.
“All I was doing was expressing my relief at winning what was one of our hardest matches of the season,” said Ferguson. “Reading always make it tough for us.
“We ran so much that we clocked up more kilometres than we have in any game this season.”
Reading boss Steve Coppell said of the incident: “I’ve known him for many years and he hasn’t lost any of his fire and he hasn’t mellowed.
“He intimidates more than enough people and you have to respond to intimidation.
“But any argument with Wally Downes would definitely have been a catch-weight contest.
“Alex wasn’t very happy about the amount of time the referee added on.”

مشاركWith James McFadden and Mauro Zarate arriving at St Andrews during the transfer window the Birmingham boss now feels that he has sufficient attacking options.
Samara has made just five Premier League appearances for Manchester City this season and McLeish had been tracking the player for some time.
The two clubs had agreed a £2.5million fee for the Greek international, but in light of recent transfer activity the Blues boss has now admitted that the deal is unlikely to be revived.

مشاركBianchi joined City from Reggina for £8.8million at the start of the season but has reportedly failed to settle in England.
Novellino believes the 24-year-old would be an ideal acquisition as Torino continue their fight against relegation – they currently lie 16th in the Serie A standings, only out of the bottom three on goal difference.
He said: “We are struggling in attack and I know our club president (Urbano Cairo) is working very hard to try to bring a great striker like Bianchi to Toro.”
Torino are not the only Italian club in the hunt for Bianchi, however, as Lazio have also expressed an interest.

مشاركDespite making only 10 starts for Manchester City in the Premier League this season the England international feels that it is essential that the squad is freshened up, despite the threat that would then provide to his place in the side.
Mexican international Nery Castillo remains Sven Goran Eriksson’s only piece of business during the transfer window so far, but with the club still in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot this season more arrivals would appear to be imminent.
Vassell believes that competition for places is healthy amongst any squad as it helps to instill the correct attitude in players and will eventually lead to the side experiencing long-term success.

مشاركReports emanating from Finland claim Litmanen is due to arrive in London for a short trial so that Roy Hodgson can assess the former Liverpool man’s fitness.
Hodgson knows all about Litmanen’s qualities having worked with him during his time in charge of Finland and believes he would be a valuable addition to his squad at Craven Cottage.
Former Ajax and Barcelona ace Litmanen is a free agent after leaving Swedish side Malmo and he is expected to arrive in London later this week for training.
Hodgson has invited the 36-year-old over to the Premier League strugglers and he believes Litmanen is in peak condition.
“Jari has been working hard lately and he is fighting fit,” Hodgson was quoted as saying by the Finnish Football Federation website.

مشاركBlues manager Alex McLeish has revealed his interest in Cahill and has been given permission by O’Neill to speak to him about a possible switch to St Andrews.
Cahill has spent the last three months on loan at Sheffield United and is keen not to lose the match-fitness and sharpness gained from regular first-team football.
But any offers for Cahill, who was on the substitutes’ bench against Liverpool on Monday night, have not met Villa’s valuation of the player – believed to be around £4million.
O’Neill, who would prefer a permanent deal rather than for Cahill to again go out on loan, said: “I have given Alex (McLeish) permission to speak to Gary.
“A number of teams have not only enquired about Gary, but a number of clubs have put offers in – none of which have been acceptable to us or have been accepted by us.
“Birmingham City, I can confirm, have made an offer but I have not accepted any of the offers because they do not meet the valuation.

مشاركThe German international has made just five appearances for the Arsenal first-team this season after a string of errors at the beginning of the campaign saw him lose his place to Manuel Almunia.
The temperamental keeper looks set to be on the bench once again for the club’s Carling Cup semi-final second leg against Spurs on Wednesday night and feels that he has been treated unfairly of late as the performances of his Spanish replacement have not warranted an extended run in the side.
He also admitted that if the situation fails to improve over the next few months then he will consider calling time on his 18-year career.

مشاركThe midfielder currently plays his club football for Osijek and has revealed that he would rather play first-team football in Croatia than become a squad player at Anfield.
Vida made his professional debut at just 17-years old and is regarded as a hot prospect for the future in his homeland.
It is believed that Rafa Benitez was ready to pay £400,000 to bring the player to England but Vida’s agent Ivan Cvejetkovic has confirmed that a deal is unlikely to be reached any time soon.

مشاركCity’s fine start to the season has faltered in recent weeks, with Sven Goran Eriksson’s side having stuttered to a 1-1 draw with West Ham at the weekend.
While they remain unbeaten at Eastlands the quality of their performances has dipped noticeably, with six points garnered from the last 18 a poor return for a side hunting UEFA Champions League football.

مشاركAlready destabilised by speculation that George Gillett and Tom Hicks are considering selling the club, reports have emerged that the American duo’s plans to refinance their loan have been hit.
The pair are understood to be struggling to secure the loan they require to pay back the original loan with which they bought the club last February.
The Daily Telegraph claims that the ‘refinancing deal is on the verge of collapse’ while The Times states that ‘sources in the City believe that the Americans’ regime is crumbling by the day’.
The news will not be met with disappointment by the club’s supporters who made their antipathy with the American regime loud and clear during Monday’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
If Hicks and Gillett are to be thwarted in their plans, then the pair may conclude they have no choice but to sell their club to the Dubai-based Dubai International Capital (DIC) group.

مشاركUncertainty over the Reds’ ownership and the position of manager Rafael Benitez have made for recurring headlines.
Form on the pitch has also been disappointing and the Reds needed a late Peter Crouch equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield.
“It is not just this week, it has been going on for some time and it is certainly not helping the players,” Gerrard said.
“I have got to be careful what I say about the situation but it is certainly not helping the team.
“We know what is going on, but as players you have got a job to do on the pitch.

مشاركThe 23-year-old left Bordeaux last summer and joined Villarreal in Spain.
However, things have not gone to plan for Mavuba at El Madrigal as he has only played five games.
He has now agreed a six-month loan with Lille, who are looking for midfield reinforcments with Jean II Makoun away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Lille have agreed to pay all of Mavuba’s wages until the summer – after which point they will decide whether to make the deal permanent.

The 38-year-old was reportedly unhappy the club blocked a move to offload Andres D’Alessandro during the transfer window.

مشاركThe Germany U21 star is regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in Gelsenkirchen, but his relationship to the club’s management team has nosedived since he refused to accept a new contract extension.
Crisis talks at the Royal Blues’ winter training camp in Turkey failed to bring a solution and Ozil has now been given permission to look for pastures new.
“We have told his agent that we are prepared to start negotiating about a sale straight away,” Muller told Bild, before adding that he felt that the player was “remote controlled” by his agent and his father.
Ozil, who has made eleven Bundesliga appearances and four in the Champions League for Schalke this season, is expected to command a fee of between four and seven million euros.

مشاركThe loan move back home for the Brazilian attacking midfielder comes after fitness problems, including prolonged sleep deprivation, as well as a training ground fracas with team-mate Boubacar Sanogo last November.
The 23-year-old has only made three substitute appearances for the club, whose manager Klaus Allofs said they discussed with the player the best way to proceed and agreed that the loan move would be a sensible solution.
