The 29-year-old Serbia international, who had been told he had no future at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, impressed Wolves coach Felix Magath at the club’s winter training camp in Portugal and has now been handed the chance to get his career back on track.

Wolfsburg have also secured the option of making the deal permanent should Ljuboja find his feet at the VW Arena.

Magath will be hoping that Ljuboja’s firepower can help boost his squad after a disappointing Bundesliga season so far that sees the ambitious club languishing in 11th place in the table.

The 28 year-old is currently on the books of J-League’s Urawa Red Diamonds but club general manager Shuzo Nakamura is willing to let the Japanese international go if the offer is right.

The Bundesliga outfit took Ono on trial at the start of the month, but delayed their decision to make a bid after question marks were raised about the condition of the player’s injured ankle.

Ono, who has been plagued by injuries in the last four seasons, have since appeared to have reassured his suitors he is close to full fitness.

According to the Japanese media, Urawa have accepted an undisclosed bid from Bochum for the 2002 Asian Player of the Year and both parties are currently finalising contract terms.

Ono moved to Feyenoord in 2001 from Urawa and helped the Dutch club to the UEFA Cup trophy in his first season.

However he never recovered from a string of injuries and returned to Japan in 2006.

The 31-year-old has barely played this season after suffering a knee injury in pre-season and then suffering a relapse as he attempted a comeback in October.

Frings looked to have finally shaken off the medial knee ligament problem, but he sustained a similar injury while training with Bremen on Tuesday.

The Germany international will now be sidelined for six weeks; and he has spoken of his anguish at the setback.

Fauverge, 23, has emerged as a candidate to replace Daniel Cousin at Rangers.

Cousin has taken advantage of a clause in his contract to talk with Fulham after they lodged a £3million offer.

Now Walter Smith could be forced into the transfer market for a new target-man and he could make another move on the French market.

Redknapp, who has also been linked to Shola Ameobi and Peter Crouch, wants striker reinforcements and he admits Baros is a player he likes.

“Baros is a player I know. I like him and I would be interested. I think he’s a good player,” Redknapp told The News.

“He’s played in the World Cup for the Czech Republic, who are a very good team, and been a Golden Boot winner in the European Championships. That’s fantastic pedigree for any player.

“And you don’t play for Liverpool if you are a mug. He’s a top player.

“I know Peter Storrie has spoken to the people there and that’s all at the moment. I don’t think there’s anything concrete just yet.”

Martin O’Neill has already insisted that he has no intentions of letting Berger leave, but Redknapp says he would like to take the 34-year-old back to Fratton Park.

“‘I have not spoken to Patrik and I’m sure Martin O’Neill wouldn’t want me talking about him,” added Redknapp.

“If Martin wants to keep him, he keeps him. If he wants to let him go, it’s different.”

The Malian midfielder is currently on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations – but he is hopeful a deal to take him to Turin will be completed soon.

Juventus are set to sell Tiago to Tottenham, which would free up room to finalise a deal for Sissoko.

“It [a deal] is just a few days away,” Sissoko told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Three or four days and everything will be decided because we only have a short time.

“I know that everything is moving and I am just waiting on the news.”

Walcott joined The Gunners from Southampton in January 2006 in a deal that could cost up to £12million.

However, Wenger has used the 18-year-old sparingly, handing him just nine Premier League starts since his switch.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has already seen one bid for the player he managed at Viking rejected by the Eredivisie outfit.

Nevland joined Manchester United aged 19 in 1997, but he failed to establish himself in The Red Devils’ first team.

“I have always wanted to play in the Premier League and this is my chance,” he told Stavanger Aftenblad.

“I am very uncertain what will happen.

The Manchester United manager’s comments follow ongoing uncertainty surrounding Benitez’s position.

Reds co-owner Tom Hicks raised further doubts over Benitez’s long-term future at Anfield by revealing that he and George Gillett had held talks with Jurgen Klinsmann about possibly replacing the Spaniard.

Benitez has since played down reports of a rift, and voiced his confidence in staying on as Liverpool boss for at least another year.

But Ferguson has questioned the motive of the Anfield club’s owners, insisting that Benitez has every right to feel betrayed.

Bus impressed Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood during a trial at Pittodrie.

De Graafschap are willing to let Bus leave as his contract expires in the summer and he does not figure in their plans.

The 29-year-old is set to sign a loan deal until the end of the season once he passes his medical.

“If Bus passes a medical, he will be with us until the summer,” Calderwood told the Daily Record.

Nakamura has only recently returned to action after over two months out with a knee injury.

The classy playmaker is relieved to have recovered to full fitness and he has set his sights on helping Celtic overtake Rangers in the race for the SPL title.

“It feels good to be back because no player likes to be injured,” Nakamura told the Daily Record.

“I had a serious thigh injury when I was playing in Japan and they put me in hospital. That meant I was away from football completely.

“This time, I had to hang around Lennoxtown getting treatment and being forced to watch the other guys training. That was extremely frustrating and it’s a relief to be back playing.

The Brazilian, 27, is currently the top-scorer in Spain with 13 goals but he could be ready to quit Sevilla.

Eriksson has been hunting the world for a top striker, but deals for Diego Milito, Fred, Afonso Alves, Djibril Cisse and Lukas Podolski have failed to materialise.

The Swede sent his scouts to track Fabiano and, having seen him in five matches over the past month, it now appears a deal is in the offing.

Fabiano has confirmed to the Brazilian media that talks are at an ‘advanced stage’.

The pair have also come out in support of manager Rafa Benitez, stating they are “solidly behind” the Reds’ boss.

The news was revealed in a statement from Kop Football Holdings (Ltd).

In addition the club have confirmed architectural firm HKS Inc will design the club’s new stadium at Stanley Park.

The new 71,000-capacity stadium is scheduled to open in August 2011.

Co-owner Hicks said: “This new financing package is a strong vote of confidence in the club’s financial strength and a recognition of the exceptional opportunity represented by the construction of the Club’s new state-of-the-art stadium at Stanley Park.

“The successful completion of this financing package is particularly significant in light of the currently challenging credit-market environment.

“With the refinancing process now done, supporters can look forward to the timely commencement of construction work on the new stadium and renew their focus on actions on the pitch.”

Hicks also went on to say they are now looking to build bridges with Benitez.

    Enthusiastic

The Spaniard’s position had been undermined after Hicks confirmed he had sounded out Jurgen Klinsmann as a possible replacement if Benitez were to leave.

Hicks said: “Since the meeting with Rafa on December 16th, at which some widely reported communications issues were discussed, Rafa has been assured that he has continuing and enthusiastic support as the club’s manager.

“Reflecting that support, Kop Football Holdings recently approved his transfer payment request to sign Martin Skrtel for £6.5million and is in discussions with Rafa and club management regarding additional player signings this summer.

“Rafa is under contract for two more seasons following this season. I am solidly behind Rafa and am confident of the team’s competitive prospects under his continuing leadership.”

It had been reported that Manchester City were close to bringing the Brazilian international to the Premier League, but this speculation has been dismissed by del Nido.

Fabiano has scored 13 goals in 13 top flight games this season for a Sevilla side which has struggled to reproduce their form of the past two campaigns and it comes as no surprise that his performances have attracted interest from elsewhere.

The club’s president though has suggested that it would take a bid of over £44million to prise the player away from the Sanchez Pizjuan, and has denied suggestions that the club only owns 35 per cent of the player’s transfer rights.
