    Canucks vs Avalanche
    NHL at Rogers Arena
Things looked so promising for Colorado earlier in the season. Two months ago they were in the top third of the West.
Now it looks like they’ll finish 14th of 15. And get to face the Canucks, winners of six in a row. Ripe for the upset?

    REAL MADRID-LYON
    Champions League in Spain
It would, simply, be a stunning result if Lyon, which tied Real 1-1 in the first leg of this round of 16 battle, went into the famed Bernabeu and stole a victory.
Bad luck for them, as injured Cristiano Ronaldo might return to Real’s lineup.

Hoops fans have probably never heard of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Well, coach/former NBAer Brooks Thompson has taken a team from a sevenwin season four years ago to the chance to enjoy a first-ever NCAA tourney win.

Real scuffled past shorthanded Hercules 2-0 and Lyon convincingly beat Sochaux 2-0 away on Saturday. The first leg was a 1-1 draw in Lyon.

Dog-and-under please. These teams’ formations cancel each other out well. Lyon’s going to wait for the second half before trying to score. If either team gets a goal, the leader will start streaming defensive midfielders into the game to try to kill the match off. Both teams will start with two holding midfielders in front of a back-four, so there’s little room to start with.

Real has been unstoppable at home this season, but a 1-0 result looks about right. If and when the goal goes in, the club has an extra reason to start resting forwards: there’s a key trip across town to Atlety on Saturday, and anything less than a win there sees whatever slim chance there is of winning the Spanish Liga disappear.

Real should have Cristiano Ronaldo (hamstring) available for this one, but the oft-injured Kaka is out again. Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Pepe and Angel Di Maria are all banged up. Any or all four could start on the bench. Karim Benzema is suddenly in form up front and eager to play his former club; Lass could continue his guest role as a defensive midfielder.

Lyon misses Michel Bastos through suspension, but welcomes back in-form Lisandro. Cris and Yoann Gorcouff sat against Sochaux on the weekend but are probable to play hurt here. Left-back Aly Cissokho almost certainly misses out with a thigh strain. Thimothee Kolodziejczak could come in on a straight swap, or Lamine Gossama could play the  Real Madrid vs Lyon en direct right with usual right-back Anthony Reveilliere manning the left. Either way, we’re promised four at the back, which helps the under.

    Pick:   Real 1, Lyon 0.

CHELSEA (-1.5, +110) vs. FC COPENHAGEN (2.5 goals over -125)

Chelsea won 3-1 away to Blackpool o   Chelsea vs Copenhagen Live Streamn Monday last week; Copenhagen beat bottom-feeders AaB 1-0 away on Saturday. Chelsea pretty much wrapped this thing up with a 2-0 first-leg win in Copenhagen.

Ordinarily I might just pass this game where the overall result is not in doubt. This time I want to back Chelsea, just like in the first leg. Chelsea may only send out half of the first team, but tChelsea vs Copenhagen Livehose players on the pitch will fancy that they are fighting for next year’s places after this year’s flop.

Lots of people would be satisfied with Chelsea’s season to date. Owner Roman Abramovich is not one of those people. Fourth in the league and out of the Cup, backroom staff is defecting at every turn. Nobody’s safe this summer, including the manager. Oh, and Ashley Cole shot a co-op student at practice from close range with something betw  Chelsea vs Copenhageneen a pellet gun and a .22 depending on who is telling the story. Good times, but only if you’re Charlie Sheen.

If Chelsea go out and hammers Copenhagen, d  Real Madrid vs Lyon Live Streamoes that make everything right inside the club? No, but it’ll be a fourth win in a row including one against Manchester United. It’s also a ticket to the quarterfinals punched in emphatic fashion, and positive reinforcReal Madrid vs Lyon Liveement before an absolutely crucial league game this weekend against Man City. Might as well go for it.

I don’t expect Copenhagen to score, so the side is better than going over the total. Chelsea to shut out the Dane  Real Madrid vs Lyons (“to keep a clean sheet”) is interesting, but it’s so hard to get fair odds on that stuff I rarely even bother to look anymore.
