Danny Gabbidon has revealed that Wales will be going all out to rile Wayne Rooney when England and Wales clash in Cardiff on Saturday.

The West Ham defender admits he holds the Manchester United striker in the highest regard but believes temperament is still Rooney’s weakness.

Despite his unquestioned talent, the teenager has often displayed a tendency to let his frustrations get the better of him, both at club and international level.

Gabbidon concedes that Wales will have no qualms in trying to wind up the former Everton star as he is certain it will give John Toshack’s men an edge in the eagerly-anticipated showdown at the Millennium Stadium.

“In the past, Wayne Rooney has shown you can get at him a little bit. He reacts to certain things,” Gabbidon declared.

“He’s a great player so if there is any disadvantage in his game you have to try to use it to your advantage – providing you stay within the rules.

“If we can, maybe we will – because when you look at England there aren’t many weaknesses in the team.”
